A girl’s bedroom during her school years needs to serve several important functions at once: it should be a comfortable place to sleep and relax, a practical space for studying, and at the same time remain the child’s own personal territory. That is why such a space requires thoughtful zoning, sufficient storage and furniture that meets the child’s age and everyday needs.
For this FeliFam project, we designed a bedroom for a 10-year-old girl in Paris, France, with an area of 13 m². The task was to create a light and functional space where she could comfortably study, relax, enjoy her favorite activities and keep her personal belongings organized.
In this project review, we show how the space was organized, which solutions were used for zoning and storage, and why custom-designed furniture became an important part of the interior.

Main Objective
The main objective was to create a thoughtfully designed bedroom for a 10-year-old girl that would be comfortable for everyday life now and remain relevant as she grows. Within 13 m², it was important to combine full-fledged zones for sleeping, studying, relaxing and storage, making efficient use of every centimeter while preserving a sense of lightness and openness.
Clients’ Requests and Our Solutions
Thoughtful Zoning for Everyday Activities
Solution: The space was organized so that each function had its own clearly defined place. We created a sleeping area, a full workspace, a personal care area and ample storage. As a result, even within 13 m², the room remains comfortable and logically organized.
A Full Workspace for Studying and Creativity
Solution: The workspace was positioned by the window to make the most of natural light. We provided a spacious work surface along with storage for books, stationery and personal belongings.
Ample Storage Without Overloading the Space
Solution: Instead of using a large number of separate furniture pieces, we incorporated integrated storage systems designed specifically around the dimensions of the room. Closed sections were combined with open shelving to maintain a balance between functionality and visual lightness.
Custom Furniture Designed for the Room’s Layout
Solution: The main furniture elements were designed specifically for this space. This allowed us to use the available area efficiently, combine several functions within a single composition and create more usable storage without making the room feel cramped.
An Interior Designed to Grow with the Child
Solution: We avoided overly childish design choices in favor of a more refined and mature aesthetic. A light base was complemented by muted blue, burgundy and terracotta accents, textured textiles and graphic details. This approach allows the interior to remain relevant as the child grows.
The Result
As a result, we created an expressive yet functional space for a girl, where the sleeping area, workspace, personal care area and storage systems come together in one thoughtfully designed composition.
Custom-designed furniture allowed us to make the most of the available space: a full workspace was arranged by the window, while spacious wardrobes and open shelving provided ample storage. A separate area with a mirror was complemented by a practical table and chair. The central element of the interior is the bed with a soft upholstered headboard, around which a symmetrical composition of wall panels and decorative details was created.
The combination of muted blue, milky, terracotta and deep burgundy tones creates an expressive yet harmonious interior. Wallpaper with delicate illustrations, a geometric border, an accent rug and textiles with different textures add individuality to the space and introduce a subtle retro aesthetic. As a result, the room feels mature and stylish while still retaining a playful atmosphere appropriate for a child’s space.
